Due to a variety of circumstances, the Morgan Horse Club of Washington State phased out the MHCWS Futurity program in 2010. The program was initiated in 1977 and at that time almost all the members in the club were breeding Morgan foals. Over the following 34 years, it was the oldest active Morgan Horse Futurity west of the Mississippi River. At the height of the program there were 23 graduating two-year-olds. Times changed and so did breeding. Futurity nominations gradually diminished over the last several years, therefore it was decided to phase out the Futurity program as it was currently designed and 2010 was the program's last year of Futurity competition. ALL FUTURITY GRADUATES are eligible for the MHCWS Maturity & Breeder Awards Program, which will continue until all funds are completely disbursed.
