MHCWS HALTER FUTURITY
See results -- 2008 now available!
The Halter Futurity is sponsored by the Morgan Horse Club of Washington State, Inc. (MHCWS) and is administered by a Futurity Committee composed of appointed MHCWS members. The Futurity Chairperson is appointed by the Club President and that person also serves as a member of the MHCWS Board of Directors with full voting rights.
The Futurity is a three-year plan designed to follow an unborn foal through its two-year-old show season.
Funding of the Futurity is through collection of annual nomination fees, declaration fees, and any other fund raising activities the Futurity Committee may choose to undertake. All annual declaration fees will be matched from the MHCWS General Fund to enhance the prize fund. Futurity funds not used to pay for ribbons, trophies, and other administrative expenses will be paid out as prize money in the Futurity classes based on the "Table for Disbursement of Prize Money" (see Prize section of Halter Futurity writeup--in the Roster/Handbook).
The current futurity rules, only in part documented herein, are more fully detailed in the MHCWS Roster and By-Law Handbook. The Handbook, which is a member benefit, is given out once a year to the Club Member on record at the time of the Handbook's publication. Other individuals who wish to receive the Futurity rules should contact the Futurity Chairperson at the telephone number or e-mail address noted on the Club Officers page of this Web site.
To participate in the MHCWS Halter Futurity a nomination must be made by the owner of record, or holder of a valid AMHA lease, for a registered Morgan mare that is bred to a registered Morgan stallion at the time of the nomination. Foals are initially nominated before they are born. Foals are considered nominated when an eligible mare owner or leasee submits the following to the Futurity Committee on or before December 31st of the year prior to birth:
- Name and AMHA Registration numbers of the sire and dam of the foal
- Owner's name, current address and telephone number
- An initial $20.00 nomination fee (checks are payable to MHCWS Futurity)
In the foaling year only, on or after January 1st until the close of show post entries, a late nomination fee of $100.00 will be accepted to post nominate a foal to the futurity, provided information as required above is submitted for validation.
Futurity classes are held at the annual C-Fair Charity Horse Show, or any show designated as official by the MHCWS Board of Directors.
Other important sections to be read regarding the conduct of the Halter Futurity are: Post-nomination, Nomination Renewal, Transfer of Ownership, Classes, Declaration, Refunds, Liability, and the Table for Disbursement of Prize Money. The contents of each of these sections are found in the Halter Futurity writing in the MHCWS Roster and By-Law Handbook.
Questions and correspondence with the Halter Futurity Committee should be directed to the Chairperson.
